There are many, many definitions of mindfulness. The one I like best is by Jon Kabat-Zinn, pioneer of the eight-week mindfulness-based stress-reduction course at the University of Massachusetts Medical School for patients with chronic pain:
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”
Mindfulness benefits include increased focus and attention, better sleep, stress reduction, improved memory and emotional regulation.
When we translate the above benefits to the workplace, we see greater resilience and productivity, higher levels of job satisfaction, increased creativity, effective conflict resolution and stronger relationships.
